Captioning for
Multimedia Files
Hi-Caption Studio provides users
with the ability to quickly and easily create, test
and manage synchronized captioning for Adobe Flash®
Professional 8, Windows Media Player®, RealNetworks
RealOne Player® and Apple QuickTime® productions
using an easy-to-use interface. The resulting
captioned multimedia files fulfill both Section 508
Rule (b) and W3C WCAG 1.0 Priority 1 checkpoint 1.4
accessibility requirements which state that just
providing text transcripts of multimedia files is
not adequate.
Hi-Caption provides an
easy-to-use tool that allows you to professionally
create synchronized captioning. The captioning file
is stored in a SAMI, SMIL or XML file. HiCaption
allows you to easily create the formatted captioning
file without having to learn the underlying code
behind it, similar to a Web editing program. For
Flash Professional 8 presentations, Hi-Caption
Studio integrates the ability to test, remediate and
caption directly within the Flash authoring tool.
With Hi-Caption, you have the
option of creating the captioning text while the
media file plays, or if you have a written
transcript of the text, the full-featured import
wizard will import the text into the program, saving
you from retyping it all. These captioning files are
then used with your existing content delivery
systems so end users of your media content can view
closed captioning for your multimedia files.
Hi-Caption also supports captioning multimedia files
in multiple languages so that the audience may
select and view captioning in the language of their
choice.
