HiSoftware
introduces
AutoUpdater
- New
Software
Decreases
Total Cost
of Ownership
for
HiSoftware
Customers
Concord, NH
- November
16, 2000 -
New releases
of select
HiSoftware
products in
the Web Site
Promotion
line (with
other lines
to follow
soon) will
now include
a new
feature
called
AutoUpdater.
AutoUpdater
allows the
user to
download the
latest
maintenance
and minor
releases for
the
HiSoftware
products
they own or
are using
under
trial. The
user may
download new
versions at
their
convenience,
without
requiring a
call to
HiSoftware
Sales or
Support, or
a trip to
the
HiSoftware
web site to
search for
the latest
release.
The
update
feature,
when used on
software
trials, is
of great
value, since
some
software
download
sites
infrequently
update their
files even
when the
software
vendor
provides
them. If a
customer
finds an
outdated
trial on a
download
site, they
can easily
get update
to the
latest
version.
Unlike some
programs,
where the
software
vendor
provides a
patch, these
updates are
“full
versions”.
According to
HiSoftware
Chief
Software
Architect
Robert B.
Yonaitis,
“Our
customers
feel more
comfortable
knowing that
they are
receiving
the most up
to date
products.
When
providing a
complete
release, you
never have
to worry
about patch
compatibility
or problems
with
skipping a
required
patch. If a
customer
rebuilds his
computer
system and
needs to
reinstall
everything
from
scratch, he
does not
need to
search for
the old
version of
the
HiSoftware
product,
then add all
the patches
to make it
the latest
release."
Using
HiSoftware
AutoUpdater
is reliable
and
easy. HiSoftware
AutoUpdater
has its own
shortcut on
the Windows
Start menu.
The user
will know if
there is a
HiSoftware
product
update
available
upon running
the
AutoUpdater.
Auto Updater
supports
users who
connect
through the
Internet
using a
Proxy
Server. |
