Department of Veterans Affairs Adds HiSoftware’s Web Site Accessibility Solutions to MicronPC Government PCHS Contract

CONCORD, NH – August 31, 2001 – HiSoftware, Inc. announced today that its Web site accessibility products are now available to the Department of Veterans Affairs and other government agencies through the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Procurement of Computer Hardware and Software (VA PCHS) contract from MicronPC Government at http://www.micronpc.com/vapchs .

VA PCHS is a government-wide acquisition contract (GWAC) available to all Veterans Affairs, Civilian and DOD agencies.  This contract will enable Web contract developers to quickly procure HiSoftware’s client- and server-based Web site accessibility products. These solutions help organizations develop long-term strategies to achieve Web content accessibility, enhance usability, in compliance with U.S. Section 508 accessibility standards.  MicronPC is a leading provider of computer and software products to the Federal Government.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments, which went into effect June 21, 2001, mandates that federal agencies must ensure that all electronic and information technology purchased, maintained or developed meets the accessibility standards established by the U.S. Access Board. Although federally mandated, state governments and private organizations can benefit by adhering to these standards.

HiSoftware has pioneered Website accessibility solutions since 1998, when it introduced its first Metadata Policy implementation and verification software.  HiSoftware’s Accessibility solutions allow multiple users to work collaboratively on Web site accessibility verification and repair, resulting in dramatic reductions in time and resources allocated to Section 508 compliance. HiSoftware client solutions are available also as integrated Microsoft FrontPage add-ons. Additionally, HiSoftware offers the only server-based reporting, repair and monitoring solutions on the market. Government customers include the Department of Veterans Affairs, USDA, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and NASA, as well as many other civilian agencies.

“We are pleased to be able to offer these solutions to the Department of Veterans Affairs Web content providers, through this special contract vehicle. HiSoftware is opening new channels to reach government agencies, providing them with more purchasing choices and convenience, said Dana Louise Simberkoff, Vice President of Business Development for HiSoftware.
