University of Massachusetts - Boston Selects HiSoftware’s Solutions to Ensure Site Quality and Accessibility of College Web Sites

CONCORD, NH – September 19, 2003 -- HiSoftware, Inc., the leader in enterprise Web Accessibility and Content Quality solutions, today announced that University of Massachusetts-Boston (“UMass Boston”) will be implementing a campus wide license of HiSoftware’s desktop and automated server solutions to evaluate, remediate and monitor Web sites and Web applications for custom content quality standards, conformance with Section 508 of the federal government's Rehabilitation Act, and international accessibility guidelines set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These solutions allow Universities to audit Web sites, Web applications and Web based courses for accessibility and to provide content creators and managers with tools for managing and delivering content that is accessible to users of assistive technologies.

Under the terms of the agreement, HiSoftware Company will provide its AccMonitor Server Enterprise software to UMass Boston and will also provide a campus wide license of AccVerify/AccRepair DS2 Editions for use on any campus PCs. HiSoftware’s product line includes a combination of user-driven interactive desktop solutions that allow developers to test their content for conformance with standards, and server side remote applications that allow for automated and remote testing.

“We are very pleased to be providing University of Massachusetts-Boston with solutions that will assist them in the creation and maintenance of accessible Web site content,” said John R. Lutts - Product Manager, HiSoftware Content Quality Solutions. “University Web managers and content creators can now fully integrate their accessibility and usability testing through HiSoftware applications, bringing full automation to policy management and validation. ”

UMASS Boston’s implementation of HiSoftware’s Solution set will allow for:

  • Digital media captioning

  • Feedback for instructors in a reporting format that is clear and easy to understand

  • Training of developers to verify and repair their own sites

  • Creation of an audit trail for their accessibility pilot program

  • Implementation of a standard format for feedback on their Web sites
