National Biological Information Infrastructure Extends Licensing Agreement for HiSoftware Web Management Solutions

Concord, NH December 18, 2003 – HiSoftware Company announced today that the National Biological Information Infrastructure (“NBII”), coordinated and operated by the U.S. Geological Survey (“USGS”), has entered into a three year licensing agreement with HiSoftware Company for enterprise-wide deployment of full product line, including it’s content quality and accessibility solutions, site quality and management solutions, and it’s search and metadata solutions. This extends a licensing agreement that NBII originally entered into with HiSoftware in December 2000 through the end of 2006. Through this agreement, both HiSoftware Company’s desktop and back-end server side software solutions will be utilized for evaluation, remediation and ongoing monitoring of NBII Web sites and Web based applications for conformance to both statutory and organizational content quality standards.

NBII is a Web based program made up of, government agencies, academic institutions, non-government organizations, and private industry partners. NBII links diverse, high-quality biological databases, information products, and analytical tools. NBII is utilizing several Content Quality, Search and Site Management Solutions from HiSoftware Company to assist in managing the implementation and monitoring of Web policies across and increasingly complex and diverse set of NBII sites and partner sites. NBII uses these solutions to gather statistical information about NBII linked Web sites, and to create actionable reports for site structural issues. These solutions work together providing a scalable architecture that provides NBII with a faster deployment time and lower cost of ownership for the solution set.

“Web development technologies and standards are rapidly and constantly changing and HiSoftware customers can have the highest level of confidence that our solutions marry the newest developments and functionality available with the highest level of performance, consistency, and stability,” said HiSoftware Company CEO and President, Robert B. Yonaitis. “We are pleased that our customers recognize our commitment to supporting emerging standards and technologies in the solutions that we provide and not only select, but continue to use and deploy our software. One of the great strengths of our software is the ability for it to be repurposed for multiple tasks and new requirements within an organization.”

In addition to “out-of-the-box” testing and reporting for Accessibility, Privacy, Metadata, Site Structure and Usability standards, HiSoftware solutions allow an organization’s experts and/or policy managers to define content policies and then provides a solution to validate compliance with these policies. The final result is a complete and concise report on the total accessibility, quality and policy compliance status of content that has been tested.
