National
Aeronautics and Space
Administration-Headquarters Selects
HiSoftware Company's Content Quality
and Accessibility Solutions
Concord, NH April
26, 2004 – HiSoftware Company, the
leader in enterprise Web Accessibility
and Content Quality solutions,
announced today that the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration
(“NASA”)-Headquarters, Section 508
resource team has selected
HiSoftware’s Web Quality and
Accessibility “Acc” product line to be
utilized for enterprise wide
monitoring of NASA Web sites and Web
based applications. Through this
agreement, HiSoftware Company’s
AccVerify, AccRepair and AccMonitor
will be utilized for staff wishing to
acquire or improve teaching skills,
methodologies, and pedagogy in
Assistive Computer Technology,
Alternate Media and Web Accessibility.
In addition to
“out-of-the-box” testing and reporting
for Accessibility, Privacy, Metadata
and Usability standards, these
solutions allow an organization’s
experts and/or policy managers to
define content policies and to
validate compliance with these
policies. AccVerify and AccRepair also
provide Webmasters and Content
Managers with the necessary tools to
test and remediate existing content
and content in development for
conformance. NASA’s Webmasters will be
using HiSoftware solutions to create
and manage sites that are accessible
and Section 508 compliant.
Under the terms of
the agreement, HiSoftware Company will
provide an enterprise license of its
AccMonitor Server software to NASA
Headquarters for use by its
webmasters, application developers,
and Section 508 compliance experts.
AccMonitor is an automated content
quality and accessibility testing
solution for Web sites, or for use in
conjunction with intranet servers or
file servers. AccMonitor is a server
solution that is designed to run with
no user interaction once configured.
AccMonitor can be scheduled to crawl
Web sites daily, weekly, or monthly.
It also allows users to log-on for “on
demand” reports on the accessibility
status of their Web pages.
HiSoftware’s “Acc”
product line includes a combination of
user-driven interactive desktop
solutions that allow developers to
test their content for conformance
with standards, and server-side
applications that provide managers
with automated and remote testing.
NASA will be licensing several of the
desktop solutions as well. A scalable
architecture provides a faster
deployment time and lower cost of
ownership for the solution set. Used
together these solutions enable
developers, testers and project teams
to verify Web site accessibility in
compliance with Section 508, as well
as Custom corporate-content quality
standards. The solutions provide
Webmasters with a simple,
cost-effective way to manage
accessibility and content quality
testing within their development
environments, at the same time
providing a centralized reporting
system and audit trail for Web content
compliance status.
