HiSoftware
Overcomes the Barrier to Indexing and
Retrieving Enterprise Data
New Automated
Metadata Embedding Solution Makes It
Easier for Organizations to Add
Structure to Corporate Information for
Enhanced Search and Discovery
Los Angeles –
Internet World Spring 2001 – March 14,
2001 - Hiawatha Island Software Company,
Inc. (HiSoftware) of Concord, New
Hampshire, today released
HiSoftware Metadata Server™, a new
server solution that enables
organizations to automatically label
Microsoft® Office and Web-bound
documents with descriptive metadata for
enhanced search results. Metadata Server
allows organizations to easily implement
a metadata policy and identify all
documents related to a topic or
transaction, without IT overhead.
“An effective
metadata policy allows organizations to
structure and efficiently manage their
corporate information, which yields
faster, more accurate information
retrieval. However, until now, the
effort involved in manually assigning
metadata to documents was a cost and
resource challenge. HiSoftware Metadata
Server™ breaks down this barrier by
automatically embedding metadata with as
much detail as you wish to define. Now,
organizations of all sizes can
affordably reap the benefits of a
structured data system without incurring
the IT overhead,” said Robert B.
Yonaitis, President and CEO of
HiSoftware.
Metadata Server
manages all of the work involved with
assigning and implementing a
discovery-level metadata policy. Systems
administrators can assign rules (or
schema) for embedding metadata at the
folder, computer or enterprise level.
Using a crawler, Metadata Server will
automatically embed or update files with
metadata, and generate logs which detail
non-compliant resources. An inheritance
feature allows the administrator to
quickly and easily develop metadata
policy and propagation tasks for their
entire enterprise. By combining the
power of HiSoftware Metadata Server,
Hi-Search, HiSoftware’s family of
meta-tagging solutions and your Internet
or Intranet web server you can metadata
search enable your site in minutes.
