KEI Pearson and HiSoftware partner to offer Web Accessibility courses to users of Microsoft® FrontPage®
NEW COURSES WILL ASSIST WEB DEVELOPERS IN COMPLYING WITH SECTION 508

Arlington, VA and Concord, NH-January 28, 2002- KEI Pearson and HiSoftware, Inc., today announced that they are partnering to develop a course offering that will assist Web developers using Microsoft FrontPage to achieve Web site Accessibility. KEI Pearson will be offering training in HiSoftware’s AccVerify and AccRepair for FrontPage. Starting in February 2002, KEI Pearson FrontPage training classes will include a module that discusses accessibility and Section 508 compliance. The new course offering, which will provide full training on these accessibility verification and repair tools, will be available from KEI Pearson in April 2002.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments went into effect on June 21, 2001. The section mandates that federal agencies must ensure that all electronic and information technology purchased, maintained or developed meets the accessibility standards established by the U.S. Access Board. Although federally mandated, state governments and private organizations can benefit by adhering to these standards.

HiSoftware’s Web site accessibility verification, repair and monitoring software solutions assist agencies in achieving and maintaining accessible Web sites in compliance with Section 508 and W3C Priority 1 accessibility guidelines. These solutions, available as stand-alone applications and as integrated add-ons for Microsoft FrontPage, help organizations develop long-term strategies to achieve Web content accessibility. They allow multiple users to work collaboratively on Web site accessibility-resulting in reductions in time and resources allocated to Section 508 compliance.

KEI Pearson Advanced Training Center (KEI Pearson-ATC) is a Microsoft Certified Technical Education Center specializing in the delivery of quality computer training solutions worldwide. KEI Pearson-ATC trains over 2000 students per month at their facility and at client sites. "Microsoft Corporation has long recognized a responsibility to develop products and information technologies that are accessible and useable by all people, including those with disabilities. HiSoftware and KEI Pearson are helping to expand the reach of FrontPage and to educate our mutual customers in the importance of improving Web site accessibility," said Giovanni Mezgec, FrontPage Lead Product Manager for Microsoft Corporation.

"With emerging standards and regulations around the issues of accessibility, this has become a great area of interest and concern to our customers." said Maureen Donnelly, KEI Pearson's Training Manager. "KEI Pearson is excited about working with HiSoftware to provide FrontPage users with the tools and training they will need to develop strategies for accessibility within their organizations."

“KEI Pearson’s knowledge and expertise in providing training for Microsoft FrontPage users, makes them an ideal partner for HiSoftware in this area,” said Dana Louise Simberkoff, HiSoftware’s Vice President of Business Development.  “This partnership makes training for HiSoftware’s accessibility solutions extensible though KEI Pearson’s ability to deliver training throughout the country as well as overseas.”
