Internal
Revenue Service Purchases
Enterprise-Wide License of HiSoftware
Company's Content Quality and
Accessibility Solutions
Concord, NH August
11, 2004 – HiSoftware Company
announced today that the U.S. Internal
Revenue Service (IRS) awarded an
agency wide licensing agreement to
HiSoftware Company for implementation
of its Section 508 and Content quality
compliance software,
AccVerify/AccRepair. Through this
agreement, HiSoftware Company’s
desktop software solutions will be
utilized for evaluation, remediation
and monitoring of IRS Web sites and
Web based applications for conformance
to Section 508 Accessibility
Standards, and organizational content
quality standards.
In addition to
“out-of-the-box” testing and reporting
for Accessibility, Privacy, Metadata
and Usability standards, these
solutions allow an organization’s
experts and/or policy managers to
define content policies and to
validate compliance with these
policies. AccVerify and AccRepair also
provide Webmasters and Content
Managers with the necessary tools to
test and remediate existing content
and content in development for
conformance. IRS Webmasters will be
using HiSoftware solutions to create
and manage sites that are accessible
and Section 508 compliant.
HiSoftware’s “Acc” product line
includes a combination of user-driven
interactive desktop solutions that
allow developers to test their content
for conformance with standards, and
server-side applications that provide
managers with automated and remote
testing. A scalable architecture
provides a faster deployment time and
lower cost of ownership for the
solution set. Used together these
solutions enable developers, testers
and project teams to verify Web site
accessibility in compliance with
Section 508, as well as Custom
corporate-content quality standards.
The solutions provide Webmasters with
a simple, cost-effective way to manage
accessibility and content quality
testing within their development
environments, at the same time
providing a centralized reporting
system and audit trail for Web content
compliance status.
In July of 2003, the Internal Revenue
Service selected HiSoftware Company
AccMonitor Server. Running as a
Windows® service, AccMonitor is an
automated accessibility testing
solution for Web sites or for use in
conjunction with Intranet Servers or
File Servers. Using a crawler,
AccMonitor tests sites for compliance
with Section 508 and W3C accessibility
standards. AccMonitor spiders, or
crawls over, entire Web sites and
reports on their accessibility status.
AccMonitor particularly benefits
organizations that need to monitor
multiple servers that host information
via the World Wide Web. AccMonitor is
a server solution that is designed to
run with no user interaction once
configured. AccMonitor can be
scheduled to crawl Web sites daily,
weekly, or monthly. It also allows
users to log-on for “on demand”
reports on the accessibility status of
their Web pages.

applications is available from the

Section 508, an amendment to the
Rehabilitation Act of 1973, requires
electronic and information technology
that is used, developed, and procured
by the Federal government to be
accessible to people with
disabilities.
