David Poehlman Joins HiSoftware Accessibility Advisory Committee

Concord, NH February 11, 2002 – David Poehlman, Access Technology Consultant and member of the American Council of the Blind, has joined the Accessibility Advisory Committee of HiSoftware, Inc. Mr. Poehlman is an active participant in efforts that concern themselves with accessibility of electronic and information technology, such as the User Agent Working Group of the Web Accessibility Initiative of the World Wide Web Consortium (“W3C”), and the Section 508 Accessibility Forum. He also provides guidance in accessibility to private industry as well as through technology testing and dialog.

Mr. Poehlman will advise HiSoftware in creating software solutions that achieve integrated accessibility for the widest audience possible. HiSoftware’s Web site accessibility verification, repair and monitoring software solutions assist organizations in achieving and maintaining accessible Web sites in compliance with Section 508 and W3C Priority 1 accessibility guidelines. These solutions, available as client and automated server-based applications, help organizations develop long-term strategies to achieve Web content accessibility. They allow multiple users to work collaboratively on Web site accessibility-resulting in reductions in time and resources allocated to accessibility compliance.

He has been an active participant in the technology access field since 1991, serves on several advisory boards and uses the technology in his daily work. His current activities include: Active participation in the Strategic Management council and the Electronic and Information Technology Interoperability Subgroup of the Section 508 Accessibility Forum, Assisting with development of the Guidelines for manufactures of user agents such as web browsers, media players and other rendering tools used to deliver content to users of the world wide web, and Section 508 Strategic Seminar Planning.
