accessibility compliance with all policies
and standards, as outlined in Section 508
(b) of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments
of 1998.
Section 508 of the
Rehabilitation Act Amendments goes into
effect on June 21, 2001. The section
mandates that federal agencies must ensure
that all electronic and information
technology purchased, maintained or
developed meets the accessibility
standards established by the U.S. Access
Board. Although federally mandated, state
governments and private organizations can
benefit by adhering to these standards.
AccVerify provides
comprehensive verification of policy and
standards for Web sites, including
programmatic/rule-based verification, a
checklist for Priority One checkpoints,
and Failsafe checking. In addition,
AccVerify clearly differentiates between
W3C “Priority One” guidelines and 508 (b)
requirements. AccVerify will be available
as an automated server application, as a
stand-alone application, and as an
integrated add-on to Microsoft®
FrontPage®, and as an automated component
of HiSoftware’s Metadata Server™.
