AccMonitor Web Test feature empowers
designers and developers with
platform independent accessibility
testing
Concord, NH,
August 28, 2002 - HiSoftware, Inc.
today announced a new option for its
AccMonitor Server (4.8) application
which will provide users with the
ability to completely integrate
Section 508 testing into their daily
workflow, without the requirement of
deploying desktop solutions. The new
Web Test service will allow
AccMonitor Server customers, to
augment their accessibility testing
architecture, by providing “pay per
use” web based testing for Intranet,
Extranet, or Internet users. The
AccMonitor Web Test feature allows
administrators to enable a web-based
service that links to their
AccMonitor Server software to allow
for client or plug-in independent
accessibility testing.
Test features, formats and
customization can be pre-configured
by the administrator so that
individual content creators can
simply enter a page and receive a
result, without any requirement for
software configuration. The test
uses all of the pre-configured Web
Settings and administrators can be
automatically copied or
“blind-copied” on test results each
time a test is run. Additionally,
the software provides custom form
completion error summaries and uses
templates for a customized look and
feel.
The application provides full
accessibility test management for
Section 508, W3C WCAG or any
standards based on the same.
Licensing is by number of uses and
software administrators are
automatically emailed when licensed
uses are running low. Administrators
can configure the Testing service so
that each of their users can test
only the Webs that they are
authorized to test, and can only run
the number of tests that they have
been allocated.
The Web test service includes
HiSoftware’s Accessibility Interview
Wizard, which allows users to
combine the visual testing process
with the automated verification to
produce a complete report for
management or other distribution.
The wizard, like a manual test plan,
provides prompts and cues as well as
test completion steps to allow
developers or quality assurance
specialists to test for
Accessibility and usability
regardless of their individual
experience with the topic.
The final result is a complete and
concise report on the total
accessibility status of Web pages
that have been tested as well as a
document to stand by and present to
the groups coordinating
Accessibility for an organization.
The software can optionally store
these results in a database so users
and administrators can keep an audit
trail and a track record of their
accessibility status and progress
towards conformance over time.
