AccMonitor and TestDirector
provide advanced accessibility
testing with no desktop software
requirement
Concord, NH –
October 3, 2002 – HiSoftware,
Inc., a leading provider of Web
content accessibility solutions,
announced today the integration of
its award winning accessibility
testing solution, AccMonitor®,
with Mercury Interactive’s leading
enterprise testing software,
TestDirector. The new integration
will provide those organizations
required to attain Section 508
compliance with solutions that
test compliance prior to
deployment, and monitor compliance
with accessibility requirements
both in the production environment
as well as monitoring files after
they have been published. These
integrated solutions enhance the
accessibility testing workflow
with a flexible workspace that can
be customized to maximize
productivity for both designers
and Quality Assurance teams.
HiSoftware has integrated
AccMonitor, a solution that
verifies that Web sites are in
compliance with accessibility
standards for Web-based
information, with Mercury
Interactive's TestDirector, a
global test management solution
for organizing and managing the
testing process. Running as a
Windows® service, AccMonitor is an
automated accessibility testing
solution for Web sites or for use
in conjunction with intranet
servers or file servers. Using a
crawler, AccMonitor tests sites
for compliance with Section 508
and W3C accessibility standards.
AccMonitor spiders, or crawls
over, entire Web sites and reports
on their accessibility status.
AccMonitor particularly benefits
organizations that need to monitor
multiple servers that host
information via the World Wide
Web. AccMonitor is a server
solution that is designed to run
with no user interaction once
configured. AccMonitor can be
scheduled to crawl Web sites
daily, weekly, or monthly. It also
allows users to log-on for on
demand reports on the
accessibility status of their Web
pages.
TestDirector is an integrated
management tool for organizing and
managing the testing process. By
combining planning, execution, and
defect tracking with an open
architecture and a central
repository, AccMonitor Plug-In for
TestDirector consolidates and
manages the testing process.
The AccMonitor Plug-In for
TestDirector is a Web
accessibility reporting solution
that integrates fully with
TestDirector for comprehensive
testing of Web accessibility
projects. The AccMonitor Plug-In
is launched directly from the
TestDirector web interface and
integrates with the features and
components of TestDirector,
including “Test Plan”, “Test Lab”,
and “Defects”. Users can automate
the test schedule via the
TestDirector interface. When tests
are run, AccMonitor updates the
status of scripts for accurate,
reliable reporting. In addition,
AccMonitor can assign defects, and
attach checklist and detail
reports on Web content
accessibility. When a test is
complete, the test cycle can be
automatically updated with a pass
or fail status. If an error occurs
during the test, TestDirector
identifies the test cycle as
incomplete.
AccMonitor performs all
accessibility testing. This frees
the TestDirector client users from
having to have additional client
software on their systems,
increasing productivity and
decreasing IT overhead. The
integration enables project teams
to verify Web site accessibility
in compliance with Section 508 and
W3C® WCAG® “Priority 1 -3”
accessibility guidelines from the
initial design stage through final
testing. As a result, project
managers are able to assign
resources easily for Section 508
remediation work, ensuring that
Web sites remain in compliance.
The integration provides a simple,
cost-effective way to ensure that
Web sites meet U.S. federal
standards for accessibility.
