AccMonitor extends and enhances the ability for platform independent and scalable enterprise-wide accessibility testing - New enhancements bring the power of AccVerify with no client software requirements

Concord, NH —September 10, 2002-HiSoftware, Inc. today announced new options for its AccMonitor Server application that will extend and enhance the ability for platform independent and scalable enterprise-wide accessibility testing. These new enhancements provide three new important options; 1) a new AccVerify plug-in for AccMonitor Server provides users with the ability to completely integrate Section 508 and WCAG testing into their daily workflow, without the requirement of deploying desktop solutions, 2) Organizations that have deployed a combination of desktop and remote server applications will be able to collaborate work efforts between the AccVerify desktop solutions and AccMonitor, 3) The new Web feature also allows AccMonitor Server to combine the results of independently run tests, from other AccMonitor Server applications, and/or from remote AccVerify desktop applications, for centralized and summarized accessibility reporting.

This new functionality brings AccMonitor Server the ability to perform either as a client-free server solution, or to accept and combine reports generated from remote desktop solutions. The AccVerify plug-in for AccMonitor will allow organizations to augment their accessibility testing architecture, by providing “pay per test” web based testing for Intranet, Extranet, or Internet users. Users of Macintosh, Linux, or Solaris computers, or any system that has a Web Browser installed that can support "Basic" HTML forms, will be able to run their accessibility tests through the AccVerify plug-in to their centralized AccMonitor Server. The AccMonitor Web Test Service allows administrators to enable a web-based service that links to their AccMonitor Server software.

Test features, formats and customization can be pre-configured by the administrator so that individual content creators can simply enter a page and receive a result, without any requirement for software configuration.  The test uses all of the pre-configured Web Settings and administrators can be automatically copied or “blind-copied” on test results each time a test is run. Additionally, the software provides custom form completion error summaries and uses templates for a customized look and feel.

Organizations that have deployed a combination of AccVerify desktop solutions, and AccMonitor Server, will also now have a centralized solution or central data repository for the collection and distribution of their accessibility reports.  For example, if there were several users of AccVerify all working on the same web site and these users were not sharing the same recorder database, using the Import Web Definition feature, AccMonitor could import the information in the recorder databases from these clients and combine it with information in its own recorder database. AccMonitor would then have the collective results of information from all the recorder databases. Finally, the AccMonitor Server will have the ability to combines the test results from multiple webs into one database and publishes reports from it.

“HiSoftware Accessibility Monitoring is based on a set of principles and models that promote high-level availability, reliability, and manageability,” said John Lutts, Director of Engineering for HiSoftware Company. “Managers will find the model useful in production, certification, user acceptance, prerelease, staging and integration, and system test environments.”

The application provides full accessibility test management for Section 508, W3C WCAG or any standards based on the same. The final result is a complete and concise report on the total accessibility status of Web pages that have been tested as well as a document to stand by and present to the groups coordinating Accessibility for an organization.  The software provides unsurpassed team services, workflow capabilities and a flexible, scalable enterprise monitoring system
