Department of the Navy engages HiSoftware to assist in addressing Section 508 initiatives for LIFELines Distributed Web Based J2EE Platform.

Concord, NH November 7, 2002 – HiSoftware Company announced today that the Department of the Navy has engaged HiSoftware Company to manage the Section 508 testing and compliance monitoring for its multi-award winning LIFELines 2000 Web Based Quality of Life (QOL) Delivery System. Through this agreement, both HiSoftware Company’s software solutions, and technical consulting services will be utilized for evaluation, captioning and consultation on further enabling the LIFELines platform for users of assistive technologies.

LIFELines was inaugurated by the Secretary of the Navy and senior DoD officials in January 1999 as a web-based access and delivery system that reinvented the Quality of Life program and services delivery to improve the availability and range of information to the Total Force. Using five modern telecommunication media - the Internet, Internet simulcasting, satellite broadcasting, teleconferencing and cable television - LIFELines is delivering a broad range of QOL support services globally to tens of thousands of servicemen and women 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service included self-help information, distance education, crisis assistance, on-line access to professional QOL service providers, and access to a full range of on-line business transactions. The LIFELines Platform has received accolades and recognition for the tremendous services and resources that it provides to servicemen and women and their families. More information about this web-based platform is available by visiting: http://www.lifelines2000.org/home.htm...

The Department of the Navy LIFELines team joins a growing list of customers turning to HiSoftware Company for accessibility solutions, including but not limited to Microsoft Government, Mercury Interactive, the Internal Revenue Service, US Army Materiel Command, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Department of Defense. Additional customer information is available from HiSoftware’s Web site: http://www.hisoftware.com/access/scustomers.html

“We are very pleased to be working with the LIFELines organization to provide them with software and professional services solutions that will assist them in the creation and maintenance of accessible Web site content,” said Robert B. Yonaitis, HiSoftware Company CEO. “LIFELines is a good example of a organization that is not only committed to content accessible to all regardless of ability, but an organization that understands the ongoing process necessary to maintain accessible content.”

HiSoftware Company will provide its AccVerify®/AccRepair® and Hi-Caption™ software to LIFELines Project team for use by its webmasters, application developers, and Section 508 compliance experts. Additionally, HiSoftware technical services team will work with LIFELines Web developers to ensure that accessible design is incorporated into future iterations of the Web portal.

HiSoftware’s Web site accessibility verification, repair and monitoring software solutions assist organizations in achieving and maintaining accessible Web sites in compliance with Section 508 standards and W3C Priority 1-3 accessibility guidelines. These solutions, available as desktop and automated server-based applications, help organizations develop long-term strategies to achieve Web content accessibility.
