Department of the
Navy engages HiSoftware to assist in
addressing Section 508 initiatives for
LIFELines Distributed Web Based J2EE
Platform.
Concord, NH November
7, 2002 – HiSoftware Company announced
today that the Department of the Navy
has engaged HiSoftware Company to manage
the Section 508 testing and compliance
monitoring for its multi-award winning
LIFELines 2000 Web Based Quality of Life
(QOL) Delivery System. Through this
agreement, both HiSoftware Company’s
software solutions, and technical
consulting services will be utilized for
evaluation, captioning and consultation
on further enabling the LIFELines
platform for users of assistive
technologies.
LIFELines was inaugurated by the
Secretary of the Navy and senior DoD
officials in January 1999 as a web-based
access and delivery system that
reinvented the Quality of Life program
and services delivery to improve the
availability and range of information to
the Total Force. Using five modern
telecommunication media - the Internet,
Internet simulcasting, satellite
broadcasting, teleconferencing and cable
television - LIFELines is delivering a
broad range of QOL support services
globally to tens of thousands of
servicemen and women 24 hours a day, 7
days a week. The service included
self-help information, distance
education, crisis assistance, on-line
access to professional QOL service
providers, and access to a full range of
on-line business transactions. The
LIFELines Platform has received
accolades and recognition for the
tremendous services and resources that
it provides to servicemen and women and
their families. More information about
