State University System Selects
HiSoftware for Enterprise-Wide
Accessibility Monitoring
HiSoftware solutions
enable system of 23 campuses to
carry out Accessible Technology
Initiative
Nashua, NH – March 19, 2007 –
HiSoftware, a leading provider of
software, services and managed
operation solutions that monitor and
optimize Web content, quality and
regulatory compliance, today
announced that the California State
University (CSU) system has selected
HiSoftware as its enterprise-wide
software vendor for Web
Accessibility monitoring. CSU’s
enterprise-wide implementation of
AccMonitor® and AccVerify® will
provide all affiliated staff,
faculty and students with access to
the solutions, and will enable the
system of 23 diverse campuses to
carry out its Accessible Technology
Initiative.
“CSU has a strong commitment to
full access for all people and is
engaged in a systematic approach to
ensure the accessibility of
information technology on CSU
campuses,” said David Ernst, CIO and
Assistant Vice Chancellor of
Information Technology Services at
CSU. “HiSoftware’s solutions are
part of our multi-prong strategy for
checking the accessibility of Web
sites in a scalable manner."
With 23 campuses and more than
440,000 students, the California
State University system is the
largest public four-year institution
for higher learning in the country.
CSU launched an Accessible
Technology Initiative in January
2006 to ensure that information and
technology resources are accessible
to persons with disabilities in
compliance with federal and state
mandates. Under the Accessible
Technology Initiative, CSU strives
to find scalable solutions to help
implement web accessibility,
instructional materials
accessibility and procurement of
accessible information technology.
“HiSoftware’s solutions are
helping make CSU’s accessibility
goals a reality,” said Mary Cheng,
director of CSU’s Accessible
Technology Initiative. “The
reporting features within AccMonitor
and AccVerify allow us to easily
communicate any accessibility issues
to the right people and to then take
the steps needed to remediate those
issues. We anticipate being able to
achieve full Web site accessibility
compliance within a few years.”
HiSoftware President and CEO,
Kurt A. Mueffelmann, said, “The CSU
system has put into place a very
aggressive Web accessibility program
with its Accessible Technology
Initiative. We are pleased that CSU
has selected HiSofware and its
solutions to help the university
meet its goals in providing fully
accessible Web sites and resources
for all individuals.”
