Feature Benefit
Captions On / Off capabilities (Hide or Show Captions) Allows you to distribute one movie allowing users to enable captions if they choose to use them or to not use the captions.
Multiple Language Support Create Captioning in multiple languages, this is great for:
  • Accessibility
  • News
  • Computer based Training
  • Informational Movies
  • or just movies that have audiences that may need to see the information in a different language then the native language

If the developer enables this feature an easy language selector is presented for users to quickly and easily select their language of choice.

If a user changes a language in the middle of viewing a Flash movie the captioning window will immediately update the caption view.

UNICODE/UTF-16 (little endian)

Captioning Area Definition Define Caption area positioning and size
Font Definition Styles and colors Define font styles directly in the extension. Remember if defining multiple languages (Localization) Macromedia recommends using "Arial" as your font choice.
Uses a default Captioning file or allows you to specify your captioning file By default the system will look for a captioning file named [flash movie] .xml , However you can tell it to use a specific file that does not have that name.
Nested buffering for larger movies If you are using large movies it is possible that the captioning may not be available immediately on play. This would not be a good solution.

With this in mind we have developed a buffering model that allows for smoothing of captions as your caption file loads fully. We have developed custom XML parsing and Manipulation to handle this feature to provide better performance.

This works with single or multiple language captioning files.

Captioning Box Style Change color, Borders, General look and feel of the captioning Window.
All Design / Presentation Elements Define all elements, e.g.. CC Button, ( i ) button, caption area, information area or use the stock elements for use with the Hi-Caption Caption Rendering Engine
