The Form Repair
Utility assists
users in repairing
forms to make them
accessible. The
feature described on
this page is only
available to users
of AccVerify who
have added a product
license for
AccRepair. Contact
HiSoftware for more
information about
product licensing.
When you start the
Form Repair Utility
it will
automatically detect
and display the HTML
for the first form
on the selected
page. You can view
the HTML in the Form
HTML Source box.
How to use the
Form Repair Utility
- In
Files/Preview
select the file
you want to run
the Form Repair
Utility on.
- Clicks Tools |
Form Repair
Utility…
- Click on the
input element from
the Form Fields
you would like to
modify. Notice
that the
corresponding HTML
has been
highlighted in the
Form HTML Source
box.
- Click Field
Label to set up a
label for the
input element.
- If you want to
get rid of the
label that’s
already there,
click Clear Label.
You can click
Clear Label at any
time to wipe out
the label tags for
the input element
selected.
- If the text
you want to set as
the label is
already in the
HTML, use the “Use
existing text for
this field’s
label” radio
button, then
select the text in
the Form HTML
Source box and
click Set Label.
- If the text
you want is not in
the Form HTML
Source box or you
want to create new
text for a label,
use “Enter new
text to use for
this field’s
label,” type in
the text you want
for a label,
select where you
want the label to
set and click Set
Label.
- Click Field
Properties to edit
the AccessKey and
TabIndex values.
- To set an
AccessKey for the
selected input
element, enter a
value in the
AccessKey
Attribute Value
box and click
Update Element.
- To set the Tab
Index for the
selected input
element, enter a
number or use the
up and down
buttons in the
TabIndex Attribute
Value box and
click Update
Element.
- To set Alt
text for the
selected input
element, type the
alt text into the
Alt Attribute
Value box and
click Update
Element.
- Now you can
run spell check by
clicking the
Spelling… button
on the bottom.
- To preview the
selected input
element, click the
Preview… button on
the bottom. A new
browser window
will be opened
displaying the
selected form
element.
- Once you are
satisfied with the
form, click Finish
to proceed to the
next form on the
page.
Field
Descriptions
Form Fields:
Below the Form HTML
Source box you can
see the different
form elements. For
each element you can
see the Field Name,
Field Type, ID, Alt
Attribute Value, Has
Label, AccessKey,
and TabIndex
columns.
Field Name:
Displays the name of
the form element
according to the
“name” attribute.
Field Type:
Displays the type of
the form element
according to the
“type” attribute.
ID: Displays the
ID of the form
element according to
the “ID” attribute.
Alt Attribute
Value: Displays the
alt text of the form
element according to
the “alt” attribute.
Has Label:
True/False
indication of
weather the form
element has a label.
AccessKey:
Displays the
AccessKey if one is
defined in the form
element.
TabIndex:
Displays the
TabIndex value if
one is defined in
the form element.
Along the bottom
are the following
buttons:
Preview: Allows
you to preview the
form you are working
with. Opens a new
internet browser
window containing
the form.
Spelling: Runs
spell check on the
form.
Stop: Stops the
Form Repair Utility.
Finish: Finishes
work on the current
form and proceeds to
the next form on the
file selected.
Cancel: Cancels
work on the current
form and proceeds to
the next form on the
file selected.
Help: Brings up
help topics related
to the Form Repair
Utility.
When you have an
element selected,
you can view the
Field Label and
Field Properties
tabs.
Field Label: The
Set Label button is
used to create the
label for the
selected form
element. The Clear
Label button can be
used on any form
element that already
has a label and will
remove the label
tags.
Use existing text
for this field’s
label.: When this is
selected, to create
a label for the
selected form
element, all you
have to do is select
whatever text you
want to become the
label in the Form
HTML Source area and
click Set Label.
Enter new text to
use for this field’s
label.: With this
option, you can set
the label text
directly by
selecting the
position where you
want the label text
placed and click the
Set Label button.
Field Properties:
The Update Element
button is used to
update the form
element with the
changes you’ve made.
AccessKey and
TabIndex: You can
set the AccessKey in
the AccessKey
Attribute Value box.
AccessKeys are used
to allow people to
jump directly to the
form input. If you
specify K as the
AccessKey someone
browsing the page
would be able to hit
Alt+K and go
directly to the
input element you
assigned.
The TabIndex
Attribute Value is
used to determine
the order items will
tab in. If you had
three form inputs
with tab index's of
1, 2, and 3 someone
browsing the page
would be able to hit
Tab and go to tab
index one. If they
hit Tab again, they
would proceed to tab
index two and so on.
